Church History

Founded in 468 EC in an event known as the Circadean Pellenpate, the "great council of Order", or Circadean o'Conn, is the only significant religious institution on the Continent. Its early years were marked by a determined effort to fight the growing religious apathy of the Elhorran Empire and to codify ways to worship and spread Order in the World. In spite of its early popularity the Church was not without its growing pains. Of primary concern to early Church mothers and fathers was the question of what the best way to propagate Order is. These different and shifting philosophies produced some of the most influential figures of Church history, namely the Nine Great Priests.

In 593 EC, Empress Lailas Elhorra declared the Circadean o'Conn a subversive political movement and declared public gatherings of the group or its members to be punishable under the laws governing treason. For the next 135 years, the Church continued to function as an underground organization. Many of its secretive rites stem from these days when its ability to remain hidden was key to its survival.
